When Austin Scarlett got his auf wiedersehen and, Wendy Pepper took the spot destined for him at the Project Runway Fashion Week finale, there was a collective *gasp* among fans of the show. We hated Wendy. We loved Austin. This seemed like a case where the producers of the show intervened and used that option you see in the shows credits.
Austin grew up in a self-professed fairy-tale land of make believe in Oregon. He dressed his younger sisters sisters up as princesses, drew in classes rather than paying attention to the lessons and at 13 was expelled for his ‘unconventional’ dressing style. He was reinstated by a student protest (to end that on a happy note). Austin made his choice to be fabulous over plain and that was that.
In 2001, he went to Hollywood for a year and worked as a costume designer, but New York was calling. And here is where we met him. Project Runway Season 1. Austin helped set the stage for Project Runway to become a series. The interesting cast of that season drew fans in by the thousands. The designs were fun to watch, but the process, the personality conflicts all made the show a hit.
His not making it to the finale almost made me an ex-fan. Even I know he was talented and I don’t know anything.

Daniel was one of my personal favorites out of all three seasons of Project Runway.
Daniel had the most even designs throughout the show. None so far overboard that you’d cringe. None so horrible that you’d spit at the television. Some so wonderful, you felt awe. No, he didn’t win. ACK!
Daniel seems to be doing very well for himself. Always busy and always visible.
